The reason for this is because MS are ass backwards and have multiple products with names that should be different and they like to rename the products just to annoy everyone. 50 years MS have been working on licences and its still clear as mud. Then we have a reply with the referenced matrix from the site with E3 showing does include intune but then with a comment that its not included as the accepted answer. So the OP asked if the E3 includes intune as the support site says yes it does.
